On Tuesday, November 8th, vote for Peg Bumgardner: A hard-working citizen, volunteer and community benefactor

My Commitment to School Board Work

I’d like to be considered for the City Schools of Decatur Board of Education because I believe that I can bring new leadership through knowledge, skills, and experience to the board. I would like the opportunity to maintain and improve upon our educational offerings to our students.

As a parent of a grown child and one in the high school, I am very aware of the educational challenges our children face today and the differences of those even just 10 years ago. I would like to participate on your behalf as an active voice, preserving our strong educational system while providing our children with new opportunities for a successful future.

My primary focus will be on student achievement, with a secondary focus on making the board decisions more inclusive and open to its stakeholders. I will work to ensure that the board provides new and innovative communication tools, in an effort to keep the community abreast of the issues facing our educational system. I will continue to address the financial state of the district and work towards ongoing financial sustainability. With the government cutting back on aid, it is imperative that we develop alternative resources of funding and examine our expenditures. I will be dedicated, passionate, and open-minded throughout the decision-making process. I will always strive to be a trustee and a leader for the City Schools of Decatur.

As your representative on the City Schools of Decatur Board of Education, I will ensure that your voice will be heard.  And together we will improve our already outstanding school district.

"Peg Bumgardner is an able parent leader who knows the City Schools of Decatur inside and out. She has in depth knowledge of both the district's history and its aspirations. She studies issues from all sides and takes a balanced approach to seeking solutions. Serving as her vice chair on the Renfroe SLT was a great learning opportunity. Peg was an exceptional chair, well-prepared and eager to engage the community."

Elizabeth Webb is the mother of two RMS 8th graders who have been enrolled in CSD since pre-K and is a former classroom teacher. She currently serves as Director of English Language Learner Programs for Gwinnett County Public Schools.
